birthday boy

Guess who else celebrated his birthday this month?

The festivities lasted an entire week. He started with Kalibo's Ati-atihan on 18 January 2013.

For three days, he shook his booty.

It wasn't all partying, though. Being a good Catholic boy, he didn't forget that it was also the Feast Day of the Santo NiƱo.

He received a blessing which, hopefully, will last until his next birthday. (Don't use it up all at once!)

On 21 January 2013, his actual D.O.B., we prepared this meal for him.

And then he spent a few days on Boracay, where he met the world-famous kiteboarder Ken.

On the last day, 24 January 2013, we had a little picnic on the banks of the Naba-oy River.

And then he left us. :-(

Which meant that we could finally get some sleep. #justkidding

Happy birthday, Hot Tuna!

  1. Without doubt the most amazing birthday I have ever had, thank you so much to all the people who put in so much effort to ensure I had a great time. ( No names you know who you are)
Your efforts were mirrored by all the people of Kalibo during Ati Atihan, if I return to the UK with one abiding memory it has to be the kindness and generosity of the local people, most particularly being invited into local homes for some memorable meals.

I am already looking forward to Ati Atihan next year........VIVA.....VIVA......VIVA...
