afternoon delight

24 February 2011, 4:30PM. East Mebon is a temple known for its elephants.




But there are other creatures, too.





Look, it's a Cambodian gargoyle!


To be perfectly honest, this was the first temple we visited that I actually enjoyed. East Mebon is not as famous as Angkor Wat or Bayon, and so it was virtually deserted when we were there. Most of the art and architecture were still intact, and the afternoon light was fantastic. As in, the stuff of photographers' fantasies.
